Something's Fishy
This is a close up of a batik I did about 10 years ago. It's on cotton , from my imagination files, from my scuba diving days.

Fossil Fish Pot
This is a hand built pot using coil. The material is red clay and no glazes have been used. The design is an American Indian one depicting fish. Prior to firing the pot was burnished using the back of an old spoon and the design was incised using one of the standard wood tools used for working in clay. After firing the pot was polished using brown boot polish.Tuesday, January 11, 2011
Winter Twilight
This batik was inspired by a picture I took when I visited the Niagara escarpment in Ontario Canada a year ago last Christmas. I started the batik on black cloth and used wax to draw the trees. Then used bleach to change the black cloth to orange in the early stage. I then preserved the orange by waxing, then proceeded to bleach until the cloth turned white, representing snow. This batik was donated to a charity and will be sold at auction in early 2011. The size was 18X24.
